RELATIONAL CARETAKERS
Care Is Personal Before It Is a System.
Direct Care Kin™ are the people who remain responsible for care through ordinary days, difficult moments, changing needs, and gaps in formal services. When you do not understand where to begin or where to turn next, the Foundation is here to help you find direction.
Who Are Direct Care Kin™?
Direct Care Kin™ are parents, guardians, grandparents, relatives, chosen family, and trusted people who provide and carry care and hold responsibility for its continuity in everyday life. Their role comes through relationship and responsibility, not only through a paid or professional position.
What Direct Care Kin Carry
A diagnosis does not always bring approval, funding, or enough help. The responsibility still remains with the person carrying the care. The Foundation exists to help fill that space with understanding, direction, and practical support.
When You May Need a Place to Begin
NAVIGATION AND CONNECTION
A Person to Help You Find the Next Step.
A Direct Care Kin Navigator™ is a trained support person who listens to your situation, helps clarify and communicate the need, explains possible pathways, connects you with appropriate community resources or qualified professionals, and helps you understand the next steps.
Navigators provide orientation, resource and referral support, process guidance, and follow-through. They do not replace licensed professionals, government agencies, emergency services, legal representation, medical providers, or existing case-management responsibilities.
Professional Care and Relational Care
Direct Care Professionals provide care through a professional role. Direct Care Kin™ provide and carry care through personal relationship and hold responsibility for its continuity in everyday life. Both roles matter. They are not interchangeable.
You Do Not Have to Carry Every Part Alone.
You do not have to know the exact program or have every document ready before making the first connection. Tell us what is happening, and we will begin by listening.
